APLE and National Police Forge Ahead in Online Child Protection Training

In a landmark initiative aimed at bolstering the fight against online child sexual exploitation (OCSEA), APLE Cambodia joined forces with the General Commission of the National Police to conduct a comprehensive two-day training session. This crucial program, held on December 20, 2023, targeted 45 professional police officers who will serve as national and sub-national trainers, marking a significant stride in enhancing law enforcement capabilities in this critical area.

The training was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Chea Poev, Deputy Commissioner General of the National Police, underscoring the importance of this collaborative effort. Participants were immersed in sessions designed to deepen their understanding and enhance their skills in both preventing and responding effectively to instances of OCSEA.

This initiative was made possible through the support of the global partnership to end violence against children, #GPEVAC, and UNICEF Cambodia, reflecting a strong commitment to child safety across organizations. By equipping these officers with specialized knowledge and strategies, APLE and the National Police are creating a formidable front against the dangers children face online.

The program not only aims to educate but also to empower these officers to lead further training, spreading vital knowledge and practices throughout the law enforcement community. This cascading effect is crucial for establishing a robust, nationwide response mechanism to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

Through initiatives like this, APLE Cambodia, in partnership with national and international stakeholders, continues to champion the cause of child safety in the digital world, ensuring that law enforcement officers are well-prepared to tackle these challenges head-on.
