The National Committee for Counter Human Trafficking (NCCT) and APLE Cambodia, supported by OneChild Canada, hosted an awareness-raising event on June 27, 2025, at the Evangelical Fellowship of Cambodia (EFC) in Phnom Penh. This gathering brought together 151 Cambodian Christian leaders and youth to enhance their understanding of human trafficking and online child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The session provided participants with essential information on critical issues, including the root causes and risk factors of human trafficking, the psychological and social impacts on victims, common online threats, and the various forms and definitions of online child sexual exploitation. Attendees also received practical guidance on recognizing and reporting suspected cases through appropriate referral mechanisms.
Education was emphasized as a cornerstone of prevention. All participants were encouraged to take an active role in community education, raising awareness among families, churches, and local groups to prevent individuals, especially children, from falling victim to traffickers and perpetrators who exploit the vulnerable through deception, grooming, and digital platforms.
By empowering faith-based leaders and youth with accurate knowledge and practical tools, this initiative aimed to strengthen community-based prevention efforts and build resilience against trafficking and online sexual abuse throughout Cambodian society.
