In a demonstration of commitment to children’s rights, 125 children and youth shared their perspectives during a national consultation workshop focused on the National Plan for the Prevention and Response to Violence Against Children.
Held on September 20-21, 2024, in Siem Reap, this two-day workshop was organized by the Cambodian National Council for Children (CNCC) to integrate children’s voices into policymaking and to refine strategies that address their needs comprehensively.
APLE, as a key member of the Inter-Ministerial Technical Working Group, played an essential role by providing technical support, facilitating children’s participation, and collaborating in the national planning process. This involvement ensured that the strategies developed to prevent and respond to violence against children, particularly concerning online child sexual exploitation, are evidence-based and grounded in the lived experiences of the children themselves.
This workshop represents a significant step forward in creating policies that are not only informed by statistics but also by the real-life experiences of those most affected.
