Together with UNICEF, Terre des Hommes Netherlands, and Smart Axiata, APLE proudly partnered with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications to host the 2nd Online Safety Forum 2025, themed “Building Trust in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” on August 1, 2025, at the Cambodia-Korea Cooperation Center, drawing over 600 participants from various sectors.
Mr. Seila Samleang, Executive Director of APLE, joined a panel discussion alongside experts from UNICEF and Smart for Cambodia. The panel explored the critical roles parents, caregivers, schools, and tech companies play in ensuring the safety of children in a rapidly evolving digital world. Key takeaways from the discussion included the power of parental controls and fostering safe digital habits, supporting children through educational institutions and caregivers, and strengthening cross-sector collaboration for enhanced online child protection.
The forum was a vibrant assembly of stakeholders, including government ministries, development partners, tech companies, civil society organizations, educational institutions, teachers, students, and the general public. Presided over by H.E. Chun Vat, Secretary of State, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the event offered a critical platform to discuss AI’s risks and opportunities, digital trust, and online safety, with a particular focus on protecting children and youth.
Participants delved into insightful discussions on how AI impacts online safety and explored ways to build digital literacy and resilience among young internet users. The forum highlighted the importance of fostering a collaborative approach to ensure a secure and trustworthy digital environment.
APLE remains steadfast in its commitment to collaborative initiatives that promote a safer digital space for children and all users.
