Training Manual on Child-Friendly Responses Finalized with Expert Input

The Police Academy of Cambodia, in collaboration with APLE, finalized a comprehensive training manual through a consultative workshop held on September 23, 2024 at the Police Academy of Cambodia Headquarter. This important event was presided over by the President of the Police Academy of Cambodia and included representatives from the Cambodian National Police, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, the Cambodian National Council for Children, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, and CRC Cambodia. A total of 36 participants contributed to this collaborative effort.

During the workshop, participants reviewed and refined the content of each lesson in the manual, ensuring alignment with police skills and legal procedures. The working group agreed on the necessary edits and resolved to seek ratification from the Police Academy of Cambodia, aiming for the manual’s future launch and integration into the curriculum.

The manual, which has undergone extensive development, including five rounds of discussion and review across 11 lessons, is grounded in thorough research and feedback. Its creation involved assessment studies utilizing both new and existing data and documents, interviews, completed assessment questionnaires with key stakeholders, study needs assessment workshops, training with law enforcement professionals, and consultative meetings with the Police Academy’s working group.

This manual represents a significant step forward in equipping law enforcement officials with child-friendly approaches to tackle online sexual exploitation and abuse, ensuring that responses are effective, informed, and sensitive to the needs of victims.
