Cambodia’s Police Academy and APLE deliver two-day course to strengthen victim-centred investigation of OCSEA cases nationwide

The Police Academy of Cambodia, in partnership with Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE), has concluded a National Police Training of Trainers Course on Victim-Centred Response and Investigation of Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA). Held in Kandal Province from 30 June to 1 July 2026, the two-day course brought together 25 national police trainers.

The course aims to strengthen the capacity of national police trainers to deliver future training to police cadets and law enforcement officers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to respond professionally to OCSEA cases.

Over the two days, participants covered digital evidence collection, investigation of online child sexual extortion (sextortion), forensic interviewing of children, trauma-informed practice, and how to apply the training manual in future courses.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Lieutenant General Dr. Lay Sopheak, Vice President of the Police Academy of Cambodia, congratulated participants on completing the course. He noted that protecting children in the digital environment requires law enforcement officers to have the right knowledge, technical skills, and victim-centred approaches to ensure effective investigations while protecting the rights and best interests of every child.
