The WeProtect Global Summit, held in Abu Dhabi on Dec 4-5, convened over 600 multidisciplinary stakeholders worldwide to address urgent measures against technological trends impacting child online safety. Mr. Samliang Seila, Executive Director of APLE Cambodia, joined representatives from governments, companies, experts, and NGOs to discuss this critical issue.
Mr. Seila highlighted regional and Cambodian trends in online child sexual exploitation, showcasing significant progress made in combating child exploitation in the context of evolving technology. The summit emphasized the dual nature of technology – posing risks but also offering opportunities to fight online child sexual exploitation.
Participants focused on identifying urgent actions to protect children globally over the next 5-10 years. This forward-looking approach demonstrates the proactive stance necessary to stay ahead of emerging digital threats.
Co-hosted by the UAE Ministry of Interior and the WeProtect Global Alliance, the summit reaffirmed the global commitment to creating a safer digital world for future generations. It underscored the importance of international cooperation and shared responsibility in addressing the complex challenges of child online protection.
