Police Academy of Cambodia and APLE Collaborate to Enhance Skills of National Police Trainers

Phnom Penh: From September 18-20, 2024, a transformative three-day training course took place in Phnom Penh, focusing on Victim-centric Investigation of Online Child Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. This important initiative was co-organized by the Police Academy of Cambodia, the Cambodian National Police, and APLE.

The training was presided over by HE Lt. Gen. Chiv Phally, Deputy Commissioner General of the Cambodian National Police, HE Lt. Gen. Khim Sovannavuth, Deputy Director of the Police Academy, and Mr. Samleang Seila, Executive Director of APLE. A total of 57 National Police trainers, including 14 women, participated in this vital training, which aimed to enhance their knowledge and skills in effectively responding to and investigating cases of online child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Throughout the course, participants engaged in a variety of interactive workshops and discussions, allowing them to learn from real-life scenarios and best practices in the field. The training culminated in pre- and post-tests that demonstrated significant improvements in knowledge and skills, with trainees expressing their commitment to applying what they learned in their daily responsibilities.

This initiative not only highlights the dedication of the Cambodian National Police to protect vulnerable children but also underscores the importance of continuous professional development for law enforcement officers. The training was generously sponsored by the Global Partnership for End Violence Against Children through UNICEF Cambodia.
