APLE chatbot, with a given name “Pisey” is not a real person, it is a personality created by APLE Cambodia, using computer software – a chatbot. APLE chatbot is integrated into APLE’s Facebook page, website, WhatsApp and Telegram, but the software application is hosted on another platform – Manychat, which is connected to the platforms we integrate the chatbot into.
At APLE Cambodia, we aim to ensure that all users are supported to feel secure, and your privacy is important to us. APLE chatbot collects information (data) about you to help improve its service and help you make the most of what APLE chatbot has to offer. When we collect your data, we ensure that it is kept securely and we respect your privacy at all times.
You have accessed APLE chatbot through your active social media account, and therefore we assume you have valid access to this account and meet the requirements for that access.
What Information We Collect from You
APLE Cambodia who support APLE chatbot may view your data whilst carrying out their jobs. All of the staff members who have access to APLE chatbot data are carefully selected, and are legally subject to APLE Cambodia’s high standards on child protection policy.
In addition, we sometimes work with a limited number of other companies, agencies and software products (third parties) to help us develop and manage APLE chatbot. Some of our partners may have access to your data. Any of the third parties that have access to user data will also have signed an agreement with us about confidentiality and security.
The third parties with whom we share data include:
- Technology Partners: Colowi Co. Ltd. is APLE Cambodia’s technology partner in implementing APLE chatbot. Colowi’s staff built an APLE chatbot and helps us maintain and improve the chatbot.
- Data Partners: We may share data with these partners so that we understand how people interact with APLE chatbot, what interests them and how APLE chatbot can be improved.
- 3rd-party software: several platforms are used to implement and support APLE chatbot. They include Manychat, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Telegram.
We will never share your information with a third party to use for marketing purposes. And we will never rent or sell your personal information to any other business or organization.
What You Can Do
APLE chatbot “Pisey” relies upon the platforms that integrate the chabot including Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Telegram and we do not have any control over those platforms, or how they use it. If there are any technical issues, bugs, or security breaches within those platforms then they may affect APLE chatbot.
You can delete your messages to APLE chatbot from your account, but this will not affect the copies which are on APLE chatbot. Every message you send is received and stored within the integrated platforms, as well as in other third-party services that we listed above.
You can ask us to completely delete all the data we have about you. If you want us to delete your data, you will also need to stop using the service. However, there are times when we use your information for statistical or research purposes or to help APLE Cambodia improve its child online protection work. In these cases, when we delete the data related to you, some of the anonymised data (meaning that it can’t be used to identify you) regarding your interaction with APLE chatbot may stay in our systems. You can email us on firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for your data to be deleted or if you have any other questions about your data.
You can also ask to receive a copy of the data we hold about you, or to correct any of the information. We will try our best to respond to requests within one month.
We may disclose information about you if we are required to do so by law or when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity.
