About APLE

Governance & Staffing

A dedicated Board of Directors and a multidisciplinary team hold APLE to the highest standards of integrity, safety, and accountability — so the trust placed in us by children and families is never taken for granted.

Governance

Our Board of Directors

A dedicated Board of Directors provides strategic guidance and oversight, so APLE remains effective, ethical, and impactful in combating child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Our people

Our Multidisciplinary Team

Lawyers, investigators, counsellors, social workers, hotline analysts, trainers, policy advocates, and communications specialists work side by side to deliver coordinated, child-centred services. Every person at APLE works under strict safeguarding and ethics standards — safe recruitment, our Child Protection Policy, data privacy, a whistleblowing mechanism, and anti-corruption standards — because an organisation protecting children must first be able to prove it protects them from itself.

How we work

Our Guiding Principles

Every decision APLE makes — in casework, in policy, in partnership — is measured against the same six principles.

Best Interests of the Child

Every decision starts with what most protects and benefits the child involved.

Do No Harm

Our response is designed never to add to a child’s trauma or risk.

Dignity & Confidentiality

Privacy is protected at every stage, for every survivor and family.

Child Participation

Children are heard through age-appropriate, meaningful communication.

Non-Discrimination

Every child is served without exception, regardless of background or ability.

Due Process & Fairness

Justice is pursued through fair, lawful standards, for survivors and the accused alike.

Foundation

Governance Built for the Next Five Years

Strong programmes need a strong foundation. Under our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, APLE is committed to a diversified funding base with no single source exceeding 30% of revenue, a 12-month operational reserve, workforce retention above 85%, regularly reviewed governance and operational SOPs, and a resourced monitoring, evaluation, and learning function. External impact depends entirely on internal institutional strength — this is the foundation that holds every other part of our work in place.

A note on language: APLE uses the term “child sexual abuse material (CSAM)” rather than “child pornography,” and “exploitation in prostitution” rather than terms that risk normalising abuse. The words we choose shape how this issue is understood.
