Why Join the Board?

The APLE board plays a vital role in guiding strategic initiatives and fostering collaborative efforts to protect the vulnerable.

The Board of our organization is composed of at least four dedicated members who play crucial roles in the success of our mission. These members include the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, and an organization matters member, who all work together to ensure that our organization is running smoothly and efficiently.

As part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of governance, new members are appointed during our Annual General Meeting. This ensures that our Board remains fresh and dynamic, with a constant infusion of new ideas and perspectives.

Currently, our Board has four official positions, each of which is essential to the smooth functioning of our organization. The Chairman provides overall leadership and strategic direction, while the Vice-Chairman supports the Chairman and takes on specific projects as needed. The Treasurer is responsible for managing our finances and ensuring that our resources are used wisely, and the APLE matters member contributes valuable expertise in the areas of policy development and advocacy.

With such a talented and dedicated Board, our organization is well-positioned to achieve its goals and make a meaningful impact. We are grateful for the Board support.

The Board of APLE takes their responsibilities seriously. As part of the Board’s ongoing commitment to the organization’s success, they regularly review and refine APLE’s mission and vision statements. At the core of this process is a focus on finding the most qualified and experienced executives to lead the organization, with an emphasis on the Executive Director position. Once the right person is in place, the Board takes a proactive approach to providing support and guidance to ensure that the Executive Director has the resources and tools needed to achieve the goals of the organization.

In addition to providing ongoing support to the Executive Director, the Board also actively participates in planning and strategy sessions to help guide the organization’s direction, ensuring that APLE remains relevant and effective in its mission. To ensure accountability and effectiveness, the Board also regularly monitors the progress of the organization, benchmarking against industry standards and exploring opportunities for improvement and growth.

As part of its commitment to excellence, the Board will take action where necessary to drive positive outcomes for the organization, whether that means making tough decisions, identifying and addressing challenges, or seizing new opportunities for growth and impact. With its laser focus on success and a commitment to collaboration and innovation, the Board of APLE plays a critical role in enabling the organization to reach its full potential.

APLE’s board meetings are held semesterly, with additional meetings scheduled as needed. Board members are expected to attend all meetings, review materials in advance, and actively participate in discussions to ensure effective governance and oversight of the organization’s operations.
