In a pivotal step towards enhancing digital safety awareness among the youth, 95 students from Boribo school in Phnom Penh have significantly boosted their knowledge on navigating the online world securely. This educational leap was achieved through an awareness-raising event focused on understanding and preventing online child sexual exploitation (OCSEA), meticulously organized by APLE and generously supported by the World Childhood Foundation of Sweden.
The core objective of the event was to arm the participating children with crucial knowledge about online risks, equip them with practical safety tips, and guide them on how to seek help and report suspicious activities to appropriate authorities. This initiative is part of a broader effort by APLE to disseminate vital information on the dangers of OCSEA to various groups, with a particular focus on children and youths, empowering them to safeguard themselves in the increasingly complex digital landscape.
Over the past few years, APLE’s expertise and dedication to combating OCSEA have led to invitations from numerous partners to share their knowledge and strategies. These engagements underscore the critical need for comprehensive education on digital safety and the prevention of exploitation and abuse online.
Through these workshops and collaborations, APLE is making significant strides in building a safer online environment for Cambodia’s younger generations. The organization’s commitment to this cause reflects a broader mission to ensure that all children can explore, learn, and interact online without the threat of exploitation or abuse.
