This morning, on August 28, an important meeting was held by the Technical Working Group of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation in collaboration with APLE. Chaired by His Excellency Touch Channy, Secretary of State of MoSVY, this meeting brought together 60 members from various working groups and partner organizations. The primary focus was to review the draft Royal Decree on the Establishment of the Social Affairs Professional Committee and to discuss the Action Plan on Social Service Workforce 2024-2026.
The Action Plan for 2024-2026 outlines several key strategies aimed at enhancing the capacity of institutions and social service providers. One of the central goals is to improve the quality of services offered to vulnerable groups and victims while ensuring that these services adhere to established standards. This improvement is vital for fostering trust within the community and ensuring that the needs of all individuals are met effectively.
Another significant aspect of the Action Plan is the emphasis on comprehensive and inclusive social service provision. APLE’s ongoing support will play a crucial role in implementing this plan at both national and sub-national levels, ensuring that marginalized and underserved populations receive the necessary assistance and resources. This holistic approach is essential for promoting social equity and fostering a more cohesive society where everyone has access to vital services.
The meeting also served as a platform for gathering input from various stakeholders, which is crucial for the successful execution of the Action Plan. This collaboration is instrumental in identifying potential challenges and opportunities, ensuring that the Action Plan is both practical and effective in addressing the needs of the community.
A representative from APLE advocated for the plan to incorporate effective measures, including integrating voluntourism training into the curriculum of the National Institute of Social Affairs and regularly monitoring the implementation of the plan.
