Inspiring Child Protection Action through Building Knowledge and Skill of the Frontline

Phnom Penh – This week, APLE will conduct two trainings for informants and university students in Phnom Penh and Sihanouk province. The trainings will focus on “Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, Grooming Technique, and How to Report the Incidents to Relevant Authorities.”

Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE) is a child protection non-governmental organization operating in Cambodia since 2003 that works to reduce all forms of child sexual abuse and exploitation through prevention, protection, and promotion of prosecution.

APLE works to achieve this through four interconnected programmes: Awareness and Training, Investigations, Social Support, and Legal Support. To date, APLE Cambodia has helped to rescue 692 victims from further abuse and raised awareness or trained 10,106 individuals.

Mr Khoem Vando, Deputy Director for Field Operations, said about the trainings:

“As an ultimate goal, APLE wants Cambodian society to be able to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse and exploitation in an effective manner. For this, we need to train target groups so that they feel confident to report alleged cases of child sexual abuse and exploitation. The heightened knowledge of informants and the general public will ensure a safer the environment for children to grow up in.”
