Safer Internet Day 2025 emerged as a landmark event in the ongoing quest to ensure digital safety for children and youth. The event not only highlighted the crucial importance of online safety but also underscored the power of collective action in addressing the challenges of the digital age.

A Successful Gather
With 1,728 participants, including students, educators, government officials, and representatives from the private sector and NGOs, SID 2025 showcased a strong commitment from all corners of society. The event’s reach was significantly amplified through live broadcasts on APLE’s Facebook page and shared across platforms by key stakeholders such as the National Committee for Counter Trafficking (NCCT) and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS). Additionally, coverage on major Cambodian TV channels brought the message of online safety into countless homes.
The vibrant atmosphere, enriched with interactive activities and engaging performances, resonated well with the youth, as reflected by the 99.16% satisfaction rate among participants. This overwhelming approval highlights the event’s success in making online safety education both accessible and compelling.

Leadership and Vision
Key messages from Mr. Seila Samleang and HE Chou Bun Eng emphasized not only the historical significance of SID but also the necessity of proactive measures to combat online threats. Their insights encouraged a focus on digital literacy and safe technology use, urging all stakeholders to play an active role in protecting young internet users.

Focusing on the Future
Building on the success of SID 2025, the path forward involves several strategic priorities:

Strengthening Collaborations: The event underscored the importance of partnerships across government, private sectors, educational institutions, and NGOs. Continued collaboration will be crucial in driving impactful initiatives.

Integrating Online Safety Education: There’s a pressing need to embed online safety into educational curricula, leveraging youth councils and school networks to enhance awareness and understanding.

Expanding the Campaign’s Reach: Plans to extend the campaign over the next two years aim to deepen its impact, ensuring comprehensive outreach and education in communities.

Enhancing Industry Participation: The involvement of private companies is vital in developing safer digital environments. Their role in crafting secure and user-friendly platforms cannot be overstated.

Fostering Open Dialogues: Encouraging ongoing conversations about online safety among families, schools, and communities will cultivate a culture of vigilance and responsibility.

Safer Internet Day was not just a one-time event but a catalyst for sustained action and dialogue. As we look toward the future, the commitment to digital safety continues to grow, promising a safer and more enlightened digital experience for the next generation.
