What is Sextortion?

Sextortion refers to the act of using self-produced sexual messages/pictures of a child in order to threaten him/her for sexual favor, money or other benefits.

Sextortion is also a form of blackmail where someone threatens to share a nude or sexual image or video of you unless you meet their demands.

Remember, it is not your fault, even if you initially shared the intimate image with the blackmailer. Blackmailers often stop when they realize you won’t comply with their demands. If they do share your intimate image or video online, you can report it to APLE or online platforms, which will assist in getting it removed.
