In an effort to enhance child safety in the digital world, 54 primary school teachers from Banteay Srei, Angkor Thom, Angkor Chum, and Srei Snam took part in a transformative two-day training of trainers session at the Siem Reap Provincial Teacher Training Center. This training was organized by APLE in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport’s Legislation Department and the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport.
The training focused on empowering teachers and education officers with critical knowledge about online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA) risks. Participants delved into vital topics such as safeguarding personal information, identifying and reporting risky or abusive content, implementing preventative measures, and devising strategies for educating children on online safety. Moreover, they received robust technical support to ensure the sustainability of ongoing learning initiatives.
Equipped with this invaluable knowledge, teachers crafted dissemination plans to effectively share this crucial information with their students, parents, guardians, and community members. This proactive approach promotes heightened awareness and safe practices, significantly mitigating potential risks and dangers. This initiative is a pivotal step towards establishing a safer online environment for children in the region.
