The Kratie provincial court charged a 74 year old American national, a hotel owner, with purchasing child prostitution, Article 34 of the Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation, which involved 2 underage boys. On 19th September 2021, the suspect was remanded in the provincial prison to await his trial.
The provincial Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection police in Kratie commenced their investigation into the alleged abuse after receiving a report from APLE’s community based civil reporter. At the police station, both victims identified the suspect as their abuser and confirmed sexual acts on them which occurred multiple times, while they were working at his hotel.
APLE commends the police’s exerted effort and great multi-agency cooperation to investigate this case and provide the needed protection to the victims.
APLE’s victim support and assistance team has provided all the necessary psychological and welfare support to the victims and is working with the partner NGO to ensure continued appropriate care and prolonged services for them and their families.
